5. Alcatraz island

Alcatraz Island sits out in the middle of San Francisco bay. This lonely, windswept rock has been the site of a lighthouse, military fort, prison and now a recreation area. Access to the island is by ferry – it is highly recommended you buy tickets in advance. The buildings on the island are mainly those of the federal prison that operated from 1933 – 1963. There are guided and self-guided tours that explain the history of the facilities, and tell stories of some of its most (in)famous residents.
The audio tour of the cellhouse building is highly recommended places. The island also has many natural features, including a huge population of sea birds. The island is very exposed, so dressing warmly is essential, even in summer. Long pants and windproof jackets will keep you from getting chilled. Also, the buildings are connected by roads which can be quite a steep grade for the very old or the very young. There are trams that can transport anyone who is unable to walk up or down the paths.
6.Top of the Rock

Top of the rock Observation Deck, the newly opened, 3-tiered observation deck on the 67th, 69th and 70th floors of 30 Rockefeller Plaza, is New York City’s most amazing attraction! The unforgettable experience includes a panoramic 360-degree, unobstructed view from the 70th floor observatory, 850 feet in the sky!
